Seat Cowl Removal

Seat cowls are plastic trim pieces that are mounted around the bottom of the seats on several types of vehicles, including gas-powered scooters, some motorcycles and three-wheeled all terrain vehicles. They are most common, though, on gas powered scooters, like the Vespa or the Honda Metropolitan. Seat cowl removal will vary slightly from vehicle to vehicle. However, for the most part they are held in place by fasteners and screws. Removal will take about 30 minutes.

Instructions

    1

Lift up on the seat and then use the socket set to remove the bolts holding the seat in place.

    2

Locate the plastic fasteners that are placed along the perimeter of the plastic cowl. Push in on the center of these fasteners until they collapse and then pull them straight out by hand. The number of fasteners will vary depending on what sort of vehicle you are removing the cowl on.

    3

Locate the screws along the inside of the seat cowl and take them out with a screwdriver.

    4

Lift the seat cowl up and off the vehicle.
