The radiator fan switch on your Accord is a crucial part of the entire cooling system. The switch monitors the changing temperatures of the coolant when you're operating the car. When the temperature of the coolant rises to a precalculated degree, the radiator fan switch activates the cooling fan. If the radiator fan switch stops working correctly, your Accord will overheat. A defective fan switch can lead to ruptured radiator hoses. If you suspect the radiator fan switch in your 2005 Accord isn't working properly, you can locate and replace it right at home.
Instructions
- 1
Raise and properly support the hood on your Accord.
2Locate the radiator at the front of your engine compartment. Stand inline with the top radiator hose on the right. The hose resembles a shortened piece of garden hose but is black in color.
3Turn on the power to your flashlight. Shine the light down along the right side of the top radiator hose while you peer down at the location as well. You should see another hose identical to the top radiator hose. This is your Accord's lower radiator hose.
4Move the light beam from the flashlight to the right three inches away from the lower radiator hose. The small wires that you see plugged into the top of the octagon-shaped nut is actually your Accord's radiator fan switch.
