Many newer Chevrolet Tahoes come equipped with power seats or seat warmers. These seats use an electrical wire connection to draw power from the battery. If you find that your seats are not working properly, the connection may have come loose. Simply reinstalling the connection will resolve the issue, although you will need to disconnect the battery in order to prevent any accidental shocks from occurring.
Instructions
- 1
Open the Tahoe's hood and unplug the negative terminal from the battery with a socket wrench.
2Open the door. Reach underneath the seat to locate the two wiring connectors: one brown and one orange.
3Pull on the two wiring connectors to test if they are properly connected. If they are not, or if the wiring connectors have come loose, plug them in to secure them. You should hear a clicking sound when they lock into place.
4Reconnect the battery and test the seats. If they are still malfunctioning, the issue could be with the seat's fuse or the seat itself. If the issue is the fuse, simply replace the fuse labeled "IGN 3" with a new 20A fuse. The "IGN 3" fuse is located in the underhood fuse block, at the rear of the engine compartment. If the issue is the seat, you will need to replace the seat's electrical components. Consult a mechanic to have your seat's electrical components replaced. Close the hood.
