If one or more speeds on the Toyota Supra's vent blowers stops working, the reason is probably due to failure of the blower resistor pack. The resistor pack, which is mounted next to the blower motor near the lower passenger side floor just beneath the glove box, regulates power to the blower motor. If voltage inside the resistor pack decreases, it places a strain on the blower motor itself. The end result is less airflow from the vents. Replacement resistor packs are sold at auto parts stores.
Instructions
- 1
Open the Supra's hood and remove the negative battery cable with the socket set.
2Open the Supra's glove compartment and remove the contents. Press in on the hinges and allow the glove box to drop completely downward.
3Unscrew the retaining screw holding the resistor pack bracket in place. Unplug the pack from the plastic wiring harness that it is connected to.
4Plug the plastic wiring harness into the back of the replacement blower resistor pack. Hold the resistor pack in place and bend the mounting bracket in place over the resistor pack. Insert the retaining screw and tighten it with the screwdriver.
5Replace the negative battery cable, start the Supra and test the fan blower on each speed.
6Raise the glove box and pop it back into place. Replace the glove compartment contents and shut the glove box.
