The 2002 Dodge Intrepid was equipped with front disc brakes that did the majority of the stopping for the braking system of the car. Over time, these rotors wear down from normal use, and when it comes time to change the brakes, you can either get the existing rotors resurfaced, or replace them with newer models. No matter which way you go, you have to remove the rotors from the car first.
Instructions
- 1
Secure the front of the car on jack stands by lifting it up using the jack. Remove the front tires with the tire iron.
2Unbolt the brake-caliper bracket from the front knuckle with the ratchet. Lift the bracket and caliper off of the rotor and hang it from the front suspension using the bungee cord. Make sure the brake line is free of any tension.
3Look on the face of the rotor for any clips going around the wheel lugs. If equipped with the clips, pull them off the lugs using the needle-nose pliers. Hold the rotor with both hands and slide the rotor off of the knuckle.
