The front disc brakes on the 2000 Chevy Silverado are essentially the same as those on other vehicles. The caliper and its mounting bracket and mounted onto a disc, and this disc can be scratched, scored or have grooves dug into it over time. This will require you to replace a brake disc. Remember that the brakes have to be even on both sides to maintain proper balance. If one brake disc needs changing, there is a very good chance that the other needs changing as well.
