How to Repair Windshield Channels

Windshield channels are the seals on the windshield frame that lie underneath the windshield glass. Over time, these seals may fail due to the sheet metal stretching and twisting. Once the seams and seals fail, water can leak into the cabin around the windshield. Once you have removed the windshield, you'll need to know how to repair the windshield channels.

Instructions

    1

Wash the seams on the windshield channels with soap and water.

    2

Dry the channels with a lint-free towel.

    3

Apply sealer to all of the seams that you suspect are leaking. Use a seam sealer and an applicator stick. You may want to apply the sealer to all seams, just to be safe. Cover the seams evenly with the applicator.

    4

Allow the seam sealer to dry for at least 24 hours before exposing it to water.
