How to Connect the Air Cleaner on a '95 Camaro

The Chevrolet Camaro was introduced in 1967. The 1995 Chevrolet Camaro was available as a base model coupe, a convertible and in two versions of the Z-28 trim package. The base engine in the 1995 Camaro was a 3.4-liter V-6. An optional 3.8-liter was made available for the base model and for the convertible. The 1995 Z-28 model had a larger 5.7-liter V-8 installed. In the 1995 Camaros, the air cleaner system connects the front air dam to the engine. Connecting the air cleaner system is fairly simple, requiring no prior mechanical experience.

Instructions

    1

Open the hood of the Camaro. Install the air filter housing onto the fender, while simultaneously aligning the housing with the forward air dam tube. Install the housing mounting bolts and tighten them with a ratchet and socket until they are snug.

    2

Install the air filter into the housing, then install the housing lid and fasten the mounting screws with a Phillips screwdriver (3 head). Tighten the screws until they are snug.

    3

Attach the lower, short section of the intake tubing onto the filter housing. Tighten the tubing clamp with a ratchet and socket until it is snug. Install the mass airflow sensor body onto the short intake tube. Make sure the arrow on the top of the sensor is pointing toward the engine and not toward the filter housing. Tighten the body clamp with the ratchet and socket until it is snug. Connect the MAF sensor to its proper electrical connector, by hand.

    4

Install the longer section of the air intake tubing onto the MAF sensor. Tighten the tubing clamp until it is snug. Install the other end of the intake tubing onto the throttle body of the engine. Tighten the tubing clamp until it is snug.

    5

Insert the intake air temperature sensor, by hand, into the side air intake resonator. The resonator looks like a second air filter housing, between the MAF sensor and the engine. Connect the IAT sensor to the provided electrical connector.
