How to Replace the Driver Side Glass in a 1987 Bronco II

A broken driver side glass on your Bronco II is not only a serious security issue but also exposes the driver to the outdoor elements when driving your vehicle. If your window does become damaged or broken you should remove it from your Bronco in order to install a new window. You can pick up a replacement glass pane for your Bronco II from your local auto store.

Instructions

    1

Enter the driver seat of your Bronco with the driver door open fully. Use a Phillips-head screwdriver to remove the screws which fix the door panel and the door handle in place. Remove both pieces from the vehicle and place them in a safe area along with their screws.

    2

Pull the inner door water protector away from the door carefully. This can be done by simply pulling it away from the door with your fingers until it comes free.

    3

Remove the bolts from the window regulator that connect the regulator itself to the window pane. This can be done with a hex wrench. Place the bolts in a safe area because you will need to reattach them to the new window pane.

    4

Lift the glass pane from the drivers door. You may wish to wear protective gloves it order to prevent you from damaging your hands on broken glass.

    5

Place the new glass pane in to the door frame. Line up the regulator with the glass pane and secure them both together using the hex bolts. Reattach the rest of the door assembly by following the removal steps in reverse.
