How to Install a Radiator in a 1995 Toyota Camry V6

When the engine is operating on a Toyota Camry, it gets very hot. In order to keep operating efficiently, something has to cool it off. That is the purpose of the engine coolant. When the engine coolant flows through the hot engine, it gets hot too, so something has to cool the liquid. The radiator in your Camry cools this liquid. The coolant flows through a series of tubes that cool the liquid down with the help of the cooling fan, and the air flowing through the radiator fins as you drive. If the radiator is clogged or damaged, you need to change it.

Instructions

    1

Drain the coolant from the engine into the drain pan by opening the valve on the bottom of the radiator with a wrench. Place the pan out of reach of children and animals.

    2

Unplug the wiring harness from the cooling fan by squeezing the clip and pulling it out. Disconnect the reservoir overflow hose from the radiator using the screwdriver to loosen the clamp. Remove the undercover from the right side of the engine using a screwdriver. Disconnect the fan shroud using a wrench. The fan and shroud come off as one unit.

    3

Remove the upper and lower radiator hoses using a screwdriver to loosen the hose clamps. Unplug the temperature switch by pulling it out. Disconnect the transmission cooling hoses from the radiator using a screwdriver if your Camry has an automatic transmission. Remove the two mounting bolts from the radiator using a wrench. Pull the radiator straight up and out of the Toyota.

    4

Insert the new radiator into the track and slide it straight down. Secure it with the two bolts, tightening them with the wrench. Connect the transmission cooling hoses and tighten the clamps with a screwdriver if your car has an automatic transmission. Plug in the temperature switch.

    5

Connect the upper and lower radiator hoses and tighten the clamps with the screwdriver. Install the fan assembly and tighten the bolts with a wrench. Install the right side undercover. Connect the reservoir overflow hose and tighten the clamp with the screwdriver. Plug the wiring harness into the fan assembly.

    6

Fill the reservoir and radiator with engine coolant. Start the car and check the entire system for leaks.
