How to Take the Radio Out of a Chevy Cobalt

You must uninstall some of the dash trim before you can remove the radio from your Chevrolet Cobalt. The radio in a Cobalt is just above the air-conditioning unit, and is held in by four screws. Once those screws are removed, you can easily pull the radio out, disconnect its electrical connector and remove it.

Instructions

    1

Open the hood and disconnect the battery's negative terminal with a socket wrench to prevent any accidental short circuits.

    2

Remove the four clips from the trim panel above the glove box with a flathead screwdriver.

    3

Unclip the upper edge of the trim panel below the steering column with a flathead screwdriver. Unclip and remove the small panel to the right of the ignition switch.

    4

Remove the four clips from the trim panel surrounding the radio and air-conditioning unit. Remove the trim panel.

    5

Remove the four screws securing the radio using a Phillips-head screwdriver. Unplug the radio's electrical connector and pull the radio out of the vehicle.
