The alternator on a Harley-Davidson is a part of the motorcycle's charging system that is responsible for transferring electrical current to the battery. When the alternator is not working, the battery is drained and is not recharged. If the alternator on the Harley goes out, it should be replaced immediately so the battery is not drained and so the other electrical systems do not become overtaxed and short out. Replacement of an alternator will take between one to two hours.
