How to Bleed a Radiator on a 1992 Honda Accord EX

Any time you drain the cooling system in your 1992 Honda Accord EX, you risk introducing air to the system. Air pockets in the car's cooling system may cause inefficient engine cooling or overheating. Avoid the risk of engine damage due to heat by purging the air out of the system. You can bleed the car's cooling system at home and be back on the road in minutes.

Instructions

    1

Open the hood of your Accord. Make sure the engine is cool then remove the radiator cap.

    2

Start the engine and let it idle until the engine warms up to the temperature it typically runs at when you operate your car. Top off the coolant level as needed in the radiator while the engine warms up using a 50-50 mixture of antifreeze and distilled water.

    3

Turn on the heater when the Accord's engine warms up. Let the car idle for a minute or two with the heat blowing on "High."

    4

Turn off the heater system and the car's ignition. Let the engine cool. Top off the coolant level if needed and replace the radiator cap.
