How to Adjust the Driver Side Window on a Pontiac Montana

You will need to adjust the driver side window in your Pontiac Montana if it has become stuck in a stationary position. A stuck window might be caused by a damaged window regulator, or perhaps the window itself is not connected to the regulator correctly. To fix the problem, remove the window from the frame and install it correctly. You can pick up the tools needed for the job from your local auto parts store.

Instructions

    1

Use a Phillips head screwdriver to remove the screws that hold the door handle in place. Pull the door handle away from the door.

    2

Open up the door fully. Locate the screws attached to the door panel. Some of the screws might be concealed by plastic covers, so use a flat-head screwdriver or a knife to take them off. Use the screwdriver to remove the screws from the panel. Place the screws and the covers in a safe area for reattachment later.

    3

Locate the two bolts at the bottom of the window which connect it to the window regulator. Remove the bolts using a wrench. Lift the window from the door frame.

    4

Check the window regulator to make sure the lower mounting bolts which fix the regulator to the door are connected properly, and that the regulator can move smoothly up and down.

    5

Place the window back into the door frame. Line up the bolt holes on the window with those on the regulator and thread a bolt between them both. Place the door panel and door handle back on to the door and reattach the screws with a screwdriver.
