Some radiator repairs are relatively easy to make, especially on plastic and aluminum radiators. Commercial epoxy can assist in the repairs and get the vehicle back on the road with a properly functioning radiator.
Process
The process of repairing a radiator with epoxy is called "cold welding," because the same goal of traditional welding is reached, but without heat. The surface must be sanded and cleaned before applying the epoxy.
Types
Commercial epoxies accomplish the same goal, which is to glue pieces together or fill a break or crack. Some epoxies come in a dough-like form, while others have two portions that have to be mixed just before applying.
Function
Epoxy can be used to fill punctures on the surface of a radiator; to "weld" the pieces of a broken hose connector or to fill the gap in an open seam or other crack.
