Depending on your year, make and model vehicle, the blower fan could be located under the dash -- usually behind the glove box -- or on the firewall in the engine compartment. The switch on the dash and the blower motor resistor controls the blower fan speeds. The blower fan does not usually come with the squirrel cage, as the cage rarely breaks. You remove the blower fan and the squirrel cage as an assembly, then remove the cage and bolt it onto the new fan.
Instructions
- 1
Locate the blower fan. If it is behind the glove compartment, you may have to remove the glove compartment to gain access to it. Unplug the wiring harness connector for the blower fan.
2Remove the bolts holding the blower fan onto the vehicle, using the appropriate socket. Lift the fan and cage out as an assembly.
3Remove the cage from the blower fan motor, using the appropriate socket. Bolt the cage onto the new blower fan motor.
4Install the blower fan and cage assembly and tighten the bolts firmly. Plug in the wiring harness connector. Start the vehicle and check for proper operation.
