Chrysler Exhaust Manifold Identification

The identification of a Chrysler exhaust manifold, in principle, is similar to that of any vehicle that relies on fuel-air combustion. The exhaust manifold receives the exhaust from the engine cylinders. Therefore, it will be located on the engine

Brand

A Chrysler exhaust manifold is generally produced by Mopar as are other components of the engine assembly. Mopar is also responsible for the production of Plymouth and Dodge exhaust manifolds as well.

Casting Numbers

Mopar places casting numbers on all of the exhaust manifolds it produces. The casting number on the manifold corresponds to the casting number of the engine, the vehicle make/ model as well as to the year of production. In some cases, the casting number will also bring up supplemental remarks such as on which side of the engine block it's mounted.

Visual Identification

Many exhaust manifolds in Chrysler vehicles will resemble an exaggerated "T" or "Y" shape. The top portion is often winged out and may have a port fitted to each of the engine cylinders (usually 4, 6, or 8). The bottom of that "T" shape is connected to the exhaust tubing that carries the emissions through the remainder of the system and out of the vehicle.
