Your 1995 Nissan Pathfinder air conditioner must be cleaned and the filter replaced at least annually. Your air conditioner can cause your timing belt to break, and your condenser can cause your engine to overheat. When your air conditioner fails, your powertrain records a diagnostic code. A technician attaches a scanner to the wiring system of your powertrain to read the codes. Qualified service technicians are certified by the Mobile Air Conditioning Society (MACS).
Blower Motor
An inoperative blower motor and fan will cause your compressor to disengage. If the cooling fan will not turn on, your powertrain records a P0485 diagnostic code, which means power is not going to the cooling fan relay. The main cooling fan is near the radiator. Diagnostic code P0480 indicates that the main cooling fan failed. The cooling fan draws air from the engine compartment through the radiator and air conditioning condenser. If the fans fail, the compressor may overheat and fail. Your engine will run hot and overheat. The flanged vented blower motor is 3.25 inches in diameter and 4.125 inches long with a 1.31-inch diameter shaft 1.69 inches long. The motor generates 12 volts of electricity and rotates counter clockwise. Two lead wires are included. Wheel is not included. Prices range from $79.63 to $110.95 (as of late 2010).
Condenser
The condenser collects filth and oil out of the refrigerant from the compressor through the expansion valve. If your condenser is dirty, flushing the compressor moves sludge through the system. Sludge can block the expansion valve. If oil cannot flow through the condenser, the compressor does not receive oil. Without lubrication, the compressor overheats. Parallel-flow air conditioners are difficult to flush because many tubes are attached to them. The condenser has 18 to 19 aluminum fins per inch for efficient, fast cooling. The condenser is high-quality aluminum coated with peel-resistant, semi-gloss enamel. Mounting brackets are zinc coated. The compressor has been tested with high-pressure nitrogen and comes with a lifetime warranty.
Compressor
Your compressor runs hot and pumps refrigerant through your air conditioning system. Your compressor must be adequately lubricated with oil designed for Nissan air conditioners. Your compressor will not work if the refrigerant is low or contaminated. Bad relays, fuses, wiring, switches or the control module can cause your compressor to malfunction. A genuine Nissan compressor costs from $340.09 to $536.83 (as of late 2010) and is covered by a two-year or 24,000-mile warranty. The compressor has a single 1/2-inch wide groove on a pulley that is 5.75 inches in diameter. The manifold is padded, and there are four areas to mount the compressor. The wheel is not included.
