How to Put a Window in My S10 Pickup

You need to put a new window in your Chevy S10 pickup truck if one currently in your truck is cracked, broken or otherwise gone. Installing a window in this truck is muck like other vehicles; the window is inside the door, controlled by a regulator and run channel. The windows needed for a Chevy S10 are usually 13 inches high and 54 inches wide on the bottom of the glass; this can vary depending on the year of the truck.

Instructions

Accessing the Window

    1

Disconnect the battery&039;s negative cable and pry the power window and lock controls off the door with a trim stick. For manual windows, rub a towel behind the window handle to disconnect its clip and remove it.

    2

Pry off the small trim bezel on the door handle with your trim stick, then unscrew all of the mounting screws for the door trim panel with a screwdriver.

    3

Lift the door&039;s trim panel upward as you pull it off the door to avoid breaking the retaining hooks.

    4

Peel away the plastic water shield covering the door.

Installing/Replacing the Window

    5

Remove the bolts retaining the front window run channel to the door using a wrench, and detach the channel from the door.

    6

Pry the weatherstripping of the top of the door if you&039;re working on a front door, then bend back the tab on the sash channel roller, and raise and tilt the glass forward to remove it from the real regulator roller. Detach the sash roller and lift out the glass.

    7

Detach the rear window glass by pushing it toward the rear of the door, rotate it out of its rollers and lift it out of the door.

    8

Tilt a front window&039;s glass down toward the front and connect it to the sash roller, then bend the sash channel&039;s tab back and lower the glass into the regulator roller.

    9

Slide a front window&039;s glass down into the door, tilting it toward the front as you rotate it into the regulator rollers.

    10

Bolt the front glass run channel in place within the door using your wrench, making sure it engages with the window glass.

    11

Place the water shield back onto the door using its own adhesive.

    12

Reconnect the door trim panel in the reverse order of removal.
