Your fuel pump is part of your vehicle's fuel system, while your radiator is part of the cooling system. These two systems function independently of one another. Therefore, a faulty fuel pump will not cause a leak in your cooling system.
Fuel System
Your fuel pump is responsible for delivering fuel to your injectors or carburetor. The fuel flows from your tank, through the pump and down the fuel lines (passing through your fuel filter) to the fuel pressure regulator. At this point, the fuel either enters the engine or returns to the fuel tank.
Cooling System
Primary components of your cooling system include your radiator, hoses, thermostat and water pump. This system is self-contained and does not interact with your fuel system. Your head gasket prevents coolant from entering the engine itself.
Cooling System Leaks
Loss of radiator fluid is an indication of a leak in your cooling system. Common locations for coolant leaks include a hole in your radiator, a hole in a cooling hose or a faulty gasket in your water pump. Lack of a visible leak may indicate a blown head gasket.
