Cadillac released the Seville name in 1956 as a trim level of the Eldorado. It was not until 1976 that the Seville became its own model in the luxury automakers lineup. In 1998, the ultra-luxurious Seville came in two trim levels, the base level SLS and the more feature-packed STS. The 1998 STS had a CD changer as an available option for its standard eight-speaker stereo system. Given the high-tech nature of this vehicle, removing the CD changer is a surprisingly simple task.
Instructions
- 1
Open the center console door and remove the two screws securing the CD changers bracket to the console, using a Phillips screwdriver.
2Lift upward on the CD changer until you can access its wiring harness. Press and hold the unlocking button on the wiring harness, and unplug the harness. Remove the CD changer.
3Remove the six bolts securing the CD changer to its bracket, using a ratchet and socket, and remove the bracket from the CD changer.
4Slide the CD changer bracket over the new CD changer and hand-thread its bolts. Torque the CD changer-to-bracket bolts to 89 inch-pounds, using an inch-pound torque wrench and socket.
5Plug the STSs wiring harness into the CD changers harness. Guide the CD changer and bracket into the center console, then tighten its two retaining screws with a Phillips screwdriver.
6Close the center console.
