Verizon confirms that they will be rolling out an update for HTC Trophy soon. They announced that the new software will update the device's OS to Windows Phone 7.5 MCR3 which will bring new feature and some enhancements.
Here is what they posted:
+ The device is now Wi-Fi Hotspot capable. This function can be turned on with the “Internet Sharing” feature under Settings. With this feature, you will have the ability to share your mobile data connection with up to 5 Wi-Fi enabled devices. Data charges will apply.
+ Enhanced multimedia messaging capabilities:
• Multi-picture attachments
• Video attachments
• Send/receive ringtones
This might not be a huge list, but the changes will still be some of the most noteworthy features that every smartphone should have. We are not sure if this is just a coincident but the update is just right in time. We reported yesterday that FCC ruled Verizon to unblock tethering apps and fined for $1.25 million. This only means that users of this phone will be able to share their data connection to other Wi-Fi enabled devices without incurring an extra $20 a month.
Unfortunately, if you have a HTC Trophy with AT&T, sorry but it is not your time yet. Hopefully your carrier did not forget to update your device too.
