The Location of the Fuel Pump on a 1994 S-10 Blazer

The 1994 model year marked the final year for the first generation of the S-10 Blazer, as Chevrolet redesigned the S-10 Blazer in 1995 and dropped the "S-10" from the name. The 1994 S-10 Blazer's 4.3-liter engine requires 55 to 61 psi of pressure in the fuel system to run correctly. If the fuel pump starts to fail and the fuel pressure begins to drop, the engine may run rough or not run at all.

Fuel Pump Location

Chevrolet positioned the 1994 S-10 Blazer's fuel pump inside the fuel tank. The tank is on the underside of the SUV, just in front of the rear axle -- between the rocker panel and drive shaft.

Accessing The Fuel Pump

To access the fuel pump on the 1994 S-10 Blazer, you must lift the SUV off the ground and lower the tank to the ground. The fuel pump is on the top-center of the fuel tank.

Fuel Pump Precautions

When replacing the fuel pump on the 1994 S-10 Blazer, there are certain precautions that you must take. First and foremost, extinguish any open flames and cigarettes to prevent starting a fire. Before beginning any work, you must relieve all of the pressure from the fuel system. If there is more than 1/4-tank of fuel, siphon the fuel from the tank and into an approved gasoline container. Once you complete these precautionary tasks, you may begin removing the fuel pump.
