How to Replace Injector Sleeves on an RE531334 John Deere

A John Deere tractor requires a specific type of injector sleeve to keep the fuel injector system running properly. The injector sleeve that works for most John Deere products is the RE531334 injector sleeve. Before purchasing any parts, check your owners manual to ensure you find the correct injector sleeve for your model. If the injector sleeve model is different, you can still use the same instructions to replace it. Installing the injector sleeve is not difficult, but it does take some time to locate and replace the injector sleeve.

Instructions

    1

Set the parking brake on the tractor and remove the engine hood. Remove the screws holding the hood in place with a Phillips screwdriver.

    2

Disconnect the exhaust recirculation hoses and remove the air cleaner assembly. Use a wrench to disconnect the hoses and the bolts holding the air cleaner assembly in place.

    3

Push in the tabs on the outside edge of the injector to release the heat-signal wire.

    4

Use a ring-clip tool to remove the secondary retainer ring.

    5

Loosen the injector from the injector port using a ratchet. Slide an injector puller onto the injector, and turn the lever clockwise until you can pull the injector out of the engine manifold.

    6

Place the new RE531334 J injector sleeve over the injector. Make sure the large end of the injector connects to the injector port. Twist the injector in place using the injector puller. Tighten the injector sleeve by tightening the surrounding bolts with a ratchet.

    7

Fit the secondary retainer ring back in place using the ring-clip tool. Reconnect the heat-signal wire, the air cleaner assembly and the exhaust recirculation hoses. Replace the engine cover, and turn on the engine to test the new injector sleeve.
