How to Replace Fans in Cadillacs

The engine on a Cadillac creates heat which, if left unchecked, can cause the engine to overheat and fail. To prevent this from happening the engine is connected to a radiator that circulates coolant through the engine and has fans mounted on the radiator to lower the temperature in the coolant and the engine. If the fan fails, the engine could overheat and fail. To fix this issue you need to replace the fans, which takes an hour or so to do.

Instructions

    1

Lift the front of the Cadillac using the jack and put jack stands under the chassis to support the car's weight. Pop the hood.

    2

Unplug the wiring from the fans using your hands. Unbolt the lower fan mounting bolts from the radiator using the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket.

    3

Unbolt the air intake tubing from the engine with the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket and pull it to the side. Unbolt the upper radiator mounts from the core support with the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket. Lift the fans out of the engine bay.

    4

Set the replacement fans into the bay and bolt the top mounts to the core support using the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket. Reconnect the air intake tubing to the engine with the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket.

    5

Install the lower mounts to the core support using the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket. Reconnect the electrical connections to the fans with your hands. Lower the Cadillac off of the jack stands using the jack.
