The 1997 Chevy Tahoe door panel is a stamped plastic panel secured to the door by trim fasteners and Phillips screws. The trim fasteners are situated about 6 inches apart on both sides and bottom of the door panel. They are simple bolt-shaped plastic buttons with serrations on the shank of the fastener. It is easy to remove the drivers side door panel once you know the procedure.
Instructions
- 1
Roll the window down. Pull the side view mirror concealment cover off the door, as it is just snapped on. Remove the two Phillips screws in the armrest pull handle using a Phillips screwdriver.
2Insert the small pocket screwdriver under the concealment cover around the inside door handle and pry out the cover. Pry the window switch panel out of the door using the small screwdriver. Unplug the switch.
3Insert the flat-head screwdriver between the door panel and the door at the lower rear part of the door panel. Pry out the trim fasteners on both sides and bottom of the door panel. Lift the door panel straight up to unhook the top curved sill from the top of the door. Lift the panel away from the door.
4Install the panel by hooking the top curved sill on the panel over the raised mounting rail on the door. To do this, simply tip the top of the door panel over the ridge on the door and lower the bottom of the door panel.
5Align the trim fasteners with their corresponding holes in the door and push the panel trim fasteners in the holes. Install the two Phillips screws in the armrest door pull. Plug in the window switch and snap the panel into the door.
6Install the inside door handle concealment cover by snapping it into place around the door handle. Install the outside side-view mirror concealment cover by snapping it into the holes in the door adjacent to the side-view mirror.
