Small scratches in the paint of your car may not be noticeable to everyone, but for many car enthusiasts, even the smallest scratch stands out as much as a big dent. From the neighbor's cat sharpening its claws on your hood to you accidentally scraping buttons or keys along the paint, small scratches are easy to get. Do your own repairs on small auto paint scratches with the help of matching touch-up paint.
Instructions
- 1
Wipe the scratch and surrounding area with wax and grease remover to get rid of fingerprints or old contaminants that cause the paint not to stick. Let the remover dry for five minutes.
2Open the touch-up paint and set the applicator to the side. Use a small hobby paint brush to apply a thin coat of paint to the scratch. Cover the entire length of the scratch. Let the paint dry for 10 minutes.
3Apply a second coat of touch-up paint with the hobby paint brush. Let the second coat dry for four hours.
4Put a small amount of car polish, a dime size amount, on a cotton towel. Wipe the car polish in small circular motions over the touched-up scratch. Buff the dried car polish off of the area with a clean dry towel. This helps blend the touch-up paint with the existing paint.
