You can adjust the emergency brakes on your rear disc brake Nissan S14 in your home garage, saving you time and money. You should adjust the parking brake when your S14 starts to slip after you apply it when you park it on a downhill slope. Adjusting the emergency brakes is a matter of taking up the slack in the parking cable which stretches out over time with use.
Instructions
- 1
Lift up on the S14's hand brake lever between the front driver and passenger's seats and note how many clicks it takes to reach the top.
2Remove the center console cover that houses the parking brake by lifting up on it. Find the adjuster nut on the back part of the hand brake lever.
3Turn the adjuster nut on the rod that sticks out of the back part of the hand brake lever with a pair of pliers. You can tighten it or loosen it, depending on what is needed. The goal is to make the hand brake click a maximum of seven or eight clicks. Keep making adjustments with the adjuster nut until you reach the desired number of clicks.
4Put the center console cover back into place.
