Keita Muramatsu, HMSI CEO with Akshay Kumar and the Dream Yuga
After months of anticipation Honda has finally launched what will be their most significant motorcycle for India, the Dream Yuga. Honda has launched many revolutionary motorcycles worldwide over the years all with the prefix, ‘Dream’ and the Dream Yuga is the latest in the line. At the heart of the motorcycle is an 110cc mill producing 8.6PS of power at 7500rpm. The all important mileage figure stands at a (claimed) 72kmpl, derived through a method that Honda says closely replicates city riding conditions. The engine uses Honda Intelligent Ignition Control System, which changes the ignition timing to optimize combustion for better power and efficiency.
Tubeless tyres are optional, a segment first. Honda have also incorporated a viscous air filter and a maintenance free battery all to keep the reliability quotient as high as possible. The Dream Yuga gets a long seat, long travel suspension, a heel and toe shifter and a (claimed) comfortable riding position to make it as comfortable as possible over the commute. The bike is available in five colours and in three variants differentiated by spoke wheels, alloys and a self start system. The Dream Yuga goes on sale by the end of May 2012 with a starting price of Rs 44,642 ex showroom Delhi which puts it bang in Hero Splendor price territory.
