New DTM car unveiled by BMW motorsport and Castrol EDGE

Jens Marquardt unveils the Castrol EDGE BMW M3 DTM

BMW motorsports and Castrol EDGE recently unveiled the 2012 BMW M3 DTM car, slated for their upcoming DTM season. While BMW M3 DTM was always adorned in M performance and matte black livery, this is the first time, it will be seen in Castrol EDGE livery. BMW and Castrol have a long history as partners with both having teamed up for 24-hour racing, motorcycle events, the World Touring Car championship and F1.

The BMW M3 DTM, which was tested in Valencia, Spain, is one of the six M3s that will see action in the DTM 2012. Its V8 engine pushes 480PS and propels the car from standstill to 100kmph in a claimed three seconds. Speaking on the occasion, Jens Marquardt, BMW motorsport director said, "For many years we have put our faith in high-performance Castrol lubricants, and have celebrated countless successes together on the racetrack. For that reason, everyone here at BMW motorsport is delighted that we are able to build on this established partnership in the DTM. Castrol EDGE is a high-performance brand, which suits our DTM project perfectly."
