so you want better sound in your car! how do i tune my car audio system?
this article should help you on your way to clean sound.i will cover amplified systems in this article.
so you might have a system somewhat like this one.
a rear speakers and a sub all amplified head unit + front components.
To start
# set all amp Gains to 0
un-plug sub RCA's. leaving front amp RCA's in
select your favorate song, set volume to MAX
Set speaker fader to front speakers only.
Now start to gain up front speaker channel on amp
fade up till speakers just start clipping(distorting)
Now back off gain so its loud but clear
Now fade to rear speakers only
these are rear fill sperkers they add depth
now do the some gain up till then back off
now unplug front and rear RCA's plug in sub RCA's only
gain up faeq one
quater this usally 50-70 cycles for a 10'' or x2
another half a quater turn is about 80hz thas ideal for a 12'' or x2
now gain up the subs till you get a desired bass level in the car
you can adjust later on if needed with bass remote or gain
try to leave bassboost alone unless your at full gain
replace all RCA's front and rear and turn down volume, restart the song
now sit back and turn up the volume it should sound clear and loud try not to add more bass or treb unless you really must
this will ensure that you have unity across all types of music hip hop, trance, jazz, rock
if you want more guts add more bass using bass or more bass gain never use head unit eq
thats the amps job at the other end remember the amp is the last filter in the line
so it has the last say...
i hope this has helped you BTW dont ask to much from your system unless you know it can take it :)
ps if you have a line driver or Eq you wont need as much gain for better sound thus the amps are getting a strong signal and you wont need bass boost beause you can use signal gain from the line driver
