Are you inclined to make purchase of double din car stereo of high quality? The double din of the car stereo refers to the size of the stereo. A typically one din size is at 180 mm X 50 mm, while the double din is becoming twice the height at 180 mm X 100 mm, which enables you more screen room to adhere to navigation or to enjoy movies. Mounting a double-din DVD player is not significantly different from installation of any other stereo. The difference lies in just the bigger size.
Follow the instructions below to install the double din car stereo on your own. We are going to take the installation process for BMW E46 DVD player for example, which is also quite similar to the mounting of car stereos for other types of cars.
1. You need to spot your foot on the brake pedal and then turn the key for “on”, after that, pull the column shifter down towards the “1″ position. Tile the steering column down. Pull off the bezel surrounding the dashboard with hands and then put it towards the side. Back the car in park and turn off the ignition.
2. Make use of the 1/4-inch ratchet to unbolt the stereo from the dashboard and socket. Disconnect the wiring harness and the antenna lead when taking out the stereo. Then, insert the vehicle-specific dash kit into the dashboard with a 1/4-inch ratchet and socket and slide the cage coming with the double-din head unit into the dash kit. Fix the cage towards the kit with flat head screwdriver to push within the tabs on the cage and pressure fit the cage to the kit.
3. Spot the wiring harness which comes with the double-din stereo next to the vehicle-specific wiring harness. You have to pay attention because all the wiring has its own identical color coding program.
Besides, each of them comes with labeled wires for every single lead. It is of great importance for you to connect each wire with the corresponding wire of the exact same color and label on the other harness. Strip off 1/4 inch of shielding from the finish of a wire with the wire strippers to do this.
After that, crimp a blue butt connector onto the finish with wire crimpers. Strip the corresponding lead on the other harness in the same way and crimp it into the other end in the blue butt connector. Carry out this step for every wire in every harness. Make sure that no more is left unconnected.
4. Connect the vehicle-specific wiring harness with the dashboard wiring harness. Then, allow the plug in the finish to hang out of the cage in the dash. Then run the antenna lead from the dashboard out from the cage and connect the GM antenna adapter with the factory antenna lead.
5. Position the double-din car stereo in your right hand and plug in the wiring harness and antenna lead into the back in the stereo. Push the stereo into the dashboard applying proper force until two clicking sounds are heard, which means that the stereo has locked itself into the dash cage. Reassemble the bezel in the reverse order of removal.
