how to remove honda accord stereo 1984-1988

Note:
The radio in this vehicle is secured to the metal frame of the dash with two 8mm bolts/Phillips screws at the back of the radio as seen in the photo above. These bolts/screws can be accessed by looking up from the bottom of the dash below the radio.

Step 1:
Locate the gray box in the center of the dash below the radio. You will need to unbolt this box and allow it to drop out of the way. Locate and remove two 10mm bolts. One each side of the box..  grab the box and allow it to fall to the carpet.

Step 2:
Once the gray box is removed, you will have direct access to screws at the rear of the radio that secure the radio into the dash. Look up from below the dash and you will see the bolts/screws that face downward as seen in the photo above.

Step 3:
Once the screws are removed, the radio can be pulled out from the front of the dash. Unplug the black cable plugged into the rear of the radio. Unplug the white plastic wire harness connector plugged into the radio. The radio can now be completely removed from the dash.
