Both Nairobi’s Innovation Hub (the *iHub) and Kenya Education Network (KENET) are doing really important work when it comes to building the Internet community in Kenya. The iHub, a popular hangout for techies, is home to many of Kenya’s young entrepreneurs, web and mobile programmers, designers and researchers. KENET is a non-profit institution that connects educational institutions with a private, affordable high speed Internet network. It supports many universities, tertiary and research institutions.
Today we’re happy to be giving these two organisations USD 350,000 (KSh 28m) to help them expand their infrastructure and purchase tools to better serve the developer and academic communities in Kenya. We hope that this support will help strengthen the *iHub and KENET communities respectively. It’s the good work of organisations like these that helps us achieve our goals of increasing access to the Internet and creating locally relevant content. We look forward to following their progress!

Servir la communauté des développeurs et des universitaires au Kenya
L'Innovation Hub de Nairobi (le *iHub) comme le Kenya Education Network (KENET) font un travail remarquable pour aider à construire la communauté Internet au Kenya. Le iHub, un hangout très populaire parmi les techniciens, est le point de départ pour de nombreux jeunes entrepreneurs, programmeurs web et mobile, concepteurs et chercheurs du Kenya. KENET est un organisme a but non lucratif qui connecte les établissements d'enseignement à un réseau privé Internet haut débit à un prix abordable. Il aide de nombreuses universités, ainsi que des établissements d'enseignement supérieur et de recherche.
Aujourd'hui, nous sommes heureux de faire un don de 350 000 USD (28 m KSh ) à ces deux organismes, pour les aider à étendre leur infrastructure et à acquérir les outils qui leur permettront de mieux servir les communautés de développeurs et d'universitaires au Kenya. Nous espérons que ce soutien aidera à renforcer les communautés *iHub et KENET respectivement. C'est grâce au travail de tels organismes que nous réussirons à atteindre nos objectifs : étendre l'accès à Internet et créer du contenu pertinent localement. Nous suivrons leur progrès avec beaucoup d'intérêt!
