The Camry was first designed and built in the early 1980s as an economical front-wheel-drive sedan with a front transverse-mounted four-cylinder engine. Although the Camry has grown in size over the years and is considered a mid-sized car, as of 2010 the Camry still utilizes a four-cylinder, transverse-mounted engine to power the front wheels. The brake-light switch in your Camry is mounted under the dashboard and activates the rear brake lights when you depress the brake pedal. If your rear brake lights are malfunctioning, you may have a bad brake-light switch.
