ULoft by Ten One Architecture

A “U”-shaped cabinet is inserted into a “T”-shaped loft, disembodying the space from it’s pre-existing structure and enclosure and creating a prolonged cross-graining of interior and “exterior” spaces (detailed description available upon request).

Ten to One is a small design and research studio specializing in open source design / build and speculative planning for projects small medium and large. The studio was founded in 2004 by Garrick Jones and developed in parallel with his work as Studio Director at the award winning firm Della Valle Bernheimer.
Ten to One refers to long, ten to one odds, or more aptly put, a register by which spectacle is made from the everyday. The firm is driven by the belief that in large the built environment is not reflective of the lives of its occupants. Ten to One builds projects for and about the user, designing object-scapes of ritual, performance, and adventure, domestic infrastructures which empower the user and celebrate their endeavors.
