Hey folkz! I searched for some Hip Hop you can listen to without gettin' into the mainstream bullshit almost every rapper does. It disgust me what happens to Hip Hop right now. So you must improvise and search for artists you don't even heard from. Here is a list of people I don't expect from that they make quite good music. To begin with the first Afu-Ra, one can say that his music is very refreshing and shows an interesting character. Like Wu-Tang Clan he connects the far east with the west, but in a different less agressive way. Of course not all tracks and albums of him are good, but a fews song may help you to overcome the emptiness. For example the album "Body of Lifeforce" and the new one "State of Art" have very beautiful songs like "Whirlwind Thru Cities" and "God Of Rap". The song "Hip Hop" on "Like Force Radio" is for those who likes it more agressive.
Then you got Jeru the Damaja whose lyrics have a deeper meaning. His way of living is against discrimination, oppression and material possession. Moreover he is a taoist and vegetarian. He also critisises the way people treat hip hop and represents this in "One day" on "Wrath of the Math".
At least I stumpled about Black Moon. In contrast to the others I mentioned, this group is more raw, but this kind of rawness you need to maintain the day. Especially "Weight Of The World", "Showdown" and "Two Turntables & A Mic" make you shiver. I hope I could help those who also suffer from this mainstream-sickness.
