Replacing a set of brake pads in the 1999 Infiniti QX4 should only take about 15 minutes. The pads should be inspected every 7,500 miles and replaced at least every 15,000. Replacement pads can be purchased or ordered from most auto-supply stores.

Loosen the lug nuts on both wheels and jack up the front end of the vehicle. Remove the wheels. The jack point is on the frame, slightly ahead of the center point between the wheels.
2Unplug the speed sensor connector located behind the rotor.
3Remove the lower bolt from the caliper. The bolt is on the back side of the caliper.
4Pivot the caliper around the upper bolt to move it away from the rotor. Suspend it with a length of wire.
5Pry off the clips that hold the brake pads in place and remove the pads. Press the caliper piston into the cylinder with a C-clamp.
6Install the replacement pads. Installation is the reverse of removal.
