At the moment rap is going the wrong way. When you listen to the new stuff, you'll get tears in your eyes by thinking back to the old times. So I stumpled over the Slick Rick and was fascinated. Finally some real rap again! This man moved with the age of 10 from London to New York (when you listen close you can still hear his british accent). In his childhood he lost his right eye, therefore he wears an characteristic eyepatch. In 1988 Slick Rick published his first ablum named "The Great Adventures Of Slick Rick", which was quite an success and reached platin. Three years later he finished "The Ruler's back". This album wasn't as good as the first one, but kept his name in the game. After he shot two men, Slick went to jail for attempted murder. His restless attitude to Hip Hop made him, with the help of Warren G, recording his third album completely in prison.
Unforunatly he dropped his last tape "The Art Of Storytelling" 11 years ago, so I don't think this genius is coming back.
But still his music helps people, who listens to good hip hop music from the eastcoast, through hard times like these, where artists just rap bling bling and fancy cars.
