FROM THE EDITOR

Now is the time to dive into Exchange Server 2007

As 2009 kicks into gear, the same old excuses for distancing yourself from Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 are growing stale. With mainstream support for Exchange Server 2003 coming to a close on April 14, it is officially time to sit down and immerse yourself in the workings of Exchange 2007.

Journaling in Exchange Server 2007 can be an improvement over traditional email-archiving methods, but only if your journaling mailboxes are secured. Microsoft Exchange expert Brien M. Posey has put together a tutorial that will ensure the protection of your most precious messages.

You can preserve all the email you want, but if your Exchange Server runs slowly, accessing your messages will be more of a pain than it's worth. This spotlight on Exchange Server 2007 performance puts all the best practices of performance tuning at your fingertips.

Finally, unified messaging (UM) is a newer Exchange topic that draws as many confused stares as curious glances. But this chapter excerpt from Microsoft Exchange Server 2007: The Complete Reference offers a basic introduction to Unified Messaging for Exchange administrators everywhere. Find out how UM can extend your Exchange 2007 messaging infrastructure, enabling it to work with more than just traditional email.

Is there more you'd like to learn about Exchange Server 2007? SearchExchange.com wants to hear about it. Send me an email at scimino@techtarget.com and we'll get to work on making 2009 a more accessible year for Exchange users everywhere.
