THE DAY GOOGLE STOPPED WORKING
Human error caused a glitch that returned the message "this site may harm your computer" for all Google search results for about an hour on Saturday, the company said. But the mistake was Google's or StopBadware.org's. Google on Saturday morning released an update to its list of URLs known to install malicious software and "unfortunately (and here's the human error), the URL of '/' was mistakenly checked as a value to the file and '/' expands to all URLs," Google vice president of search products & user experience wrote in an official Google blog post explaining the glitch.....more

Yahoo's Briefcase online storage service is finally being shut down.Users of the free service, which soldiered on for almost 10 years with a distinctly Web 1.0 capacity of 30MB, are being greeted by a message that says they have to download or delete their files by March 30. After that, the accounts will be closed and files deleted.....more
NEW AMD PHENOM II CHIPS TO SUPPORT DDR3
AMD will soon introduce processors that are capable of supporting DDR3 memory, earlier than the company had anticipated. The company in the next few weeks will launch new processors targeted at desktops that will include DDR3-capable memory controllers, said John Taylor, an AMD spokesman. Taylor declined to comment on specific processors being launched, though a leaked road map suggests the launch of new Phenom II and triple-core processors.....more
BEWARE REVIVED VALENTINE'S DAY VIRUS
Multiple security vendors, including MX Logic Inc., Trend Micro Inc., and Panda Security, have issued alerts about new Valentine's Day-themed spam campaigns that try to dupe users into installing the Waledec bot. Subject lines for the spam, said Sam Masiello , vice president of information security at MX Logic, are "short and sweet," and include "me and you," "in your arms" and "with all my love." ....more
FIRST INTEL CORE I7 LAPTOPS SET FOR RELEASE
PC retailer Eurocom plans to ship Intel Core i7 laptops, which the chip maker has dubbed the "fastest processor on this planet". The Eurocom D900F Phantom i7 will include Intel's Nehalem-based quad-core Core i7 chips, which are typically put in servers and high-end gaming desktops. The laptops will ship on May 1, according to the Canadian PC retailer's website.....more
