The ThinkGeek Newsletter!

February 4, 2009

Citizens of Caprica,

The Chinese New Year just kicked into effect. What's it the year of now you ask? We'll tell you...drumroll please....2009 is the year of....the Ox! Unfortunately we don't have anything clever to say about an Ox. So we decided to look it up in Wikipedia and they described the year of the Ox with these words: Dependable, calm, methodical, patient, hardworking, ambitious, conventional, steady, modest, logical, resolute, tenacious. Can be stubborn, narrow-minded, materialistic, rigid, demanding. We hope you'll agree with us that 2009 is not the year of the Ox, it's the year of the Spock! Back to the goods then...

Coffee & Tea Glass Filter Straws - Brew as you suck

Coffee & Tea Glass Filter Straws - Brew as you suck

Think about all the waste involved in your coffee routine. You make a whole pot of coffee using a filter and a lot of coffee just to have one or two cups, and it's not even that flavorful. Well now, using the Coffee Straw, you can brew one cup in the cup; the hand crafted, glass straw has a mini French Press filter on the end to filter out the grounds. One cup, less waste, more flavor. Prefer tea? Then try the Tea Straw with its integrated glass filter. Both straws are beautiful, economical, and very (dare we say) chic.

Lizard Poisons Spock - Three New Geeky Shirts

We're all atwitter at ThinkGeek World Domination HQ about our new shirts. That's cause the first honors our favorite 140 character social network slash status updater slash stalking tool. I'm Tweeting This comes in both men's and women's styles. And for when you need to get rid of those stalkers you've picked up, the chef recommends our I Heart Buffy shirts (also both genders) with an artfully placed stake on the torso so they know better than to mess with you. Arguing with someone over which one you need? You should probably play Rock Paper Scissors Lizard Spock to decide. See shirt for rules.

Solar Climbing Orangutan - Monkey + Sun = BFF

Solar Climbing Orangutan - Monkey + Sun = BFF

What happens when you combine the federal stimulus package with billions in funding for alternative energy sources, monkeys and the sun? Well you get the Solar Climbing Orangutan of course. Assemble this resourceful simian and set-up a string suitable for climbing. As long as the sun is shining (or you burn valuable electricity by applying your own light) this orange orangutan keeps climbing. We wanted to offer you the Nuclear Climbing Orangutan... but unfortunately couldn't get them into the country due to high lead content.

Zombie Fluxx Card Game - Fight the undead; change the rules

Zombies don't play by the rules; it's one of the rules of being a Zombie. And in order to beat them at their own game, neither can you. There are rules with Zombie Fluxx, sure, but the good news is you can change them as you play. You can change them to make sure your opponents lose and you win (and that you all have a goofy, bloodbath of a good time). And what do you have to fight the Zombies with? Shotgun, chainsaw, sandwich, car - you know, the usual. But your brains might be your most important weapon, unless the Zombies eat them first.

Share the Geek Love ... win a $75 gift certificate!

The ThinkGeek robo-cupid monkeytrons have decided to donate $500 to geeklings across the country who need technology in their classrooms, but we're having a hard time choosing who to support on DonorsChoose.org. (It's where teachers go to ask for small, finite sums to finance geeky things like LED projectors or webcams for their classrooms.) So we need your help aiming our benevolently technophilic arrows: find a classroom you'd like us to support on DonorsChoose.org, vote by tweeting at us or writing on our Facebook wall, and enter to win a $75 ThinkGeek gift certificate. Then go hug your computer
