With the recent publication of data from IDC ranking Oracle #1 in Worldwide Embedded Database Vendor Share (again), we have a nice opportunity to focus on embedded application development.

We've included several resources here (but there are many more), the most important being the new Embedded Installation Resources Kit for developers. It includes several scripts, utilities, and tools for embedding an Oracle database within an application—a great jump start.

This new kit (download) gives developers with tools and guidance to build a clonable setup of Oracle Database 11g software, which you can then use to automate the invisible deployment of an Oracle database.
