In the US, Toyota has reaped the rewards of offering fuel efficient vehicles to customers who are increasingly troubled by rising gasoline prices.
But Toyota yesterday also demonstrated its versatility: in the Middle East, where fuel efficiency has less impact on consumers, demand for the company’s Land Cruiser 4x4 vehicles were responsible for a 142 per cent jump in profits in the company’s “other regions” column of the accounts.
