Shaker furnace

A cultural descendant - interpretation of the simple
The fireplace has been of central importance throughout the history of civilisation. Recent findings in Israel suggest that our ancestors had already mastered fire by about 800000 years ago. Until not too long ago in western culture too, the stove, a direct successor of the fireplace, has been the most important place within the house. Here the family used to gather as it was the only room heated in winter. The Shaker furnace takes up the simple and fundamental concept of ancient fireplaces and presents itself as a modern interpretation of the household stove.
