After completing an MFA in sculpture at the University of Chicago, Michael W. Dreeben pursued apprenticeships with master woodworkers and was later awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to study traditional craft and woodworking in Rajasthan State in North India. Upon returning from India, he continued to pursue a range of design interests, and co-founded and operated Accuslab, LLC, which supplied stock lines of concrete furniture and architectural components to several large national retailers including Crate and Barrel, Room and Board, and Home Depot's Expo Design Center.
The culmination of this ongoing history is a collection of furniture and objects that comprises three areas: the first, a semi-custom group of wooden tables and cabinets, the second, a stock line of CNC-milled aluminum pieces, and the third, a small group of fine limited edition objects. All of this work reflects sculptural sensibility, thoughtful engagement with material, and wide ranging design and production experience.
