If you thought that Desktop Search was the next great tech battlefield, prepare for the War of the Widgets. Konfabulator (as far as I know, the inventors of the desktop eye candy contraption) have finally conceded that Windows is where its at (see Slashdot post
here). I've played around with Avedesk, Kapsules, and the like for Windows, but I expect that Konfabulator will work better, and probably be worth buying. They had a Windows trial a couple of years ago and the abruptly shut it down and didn't really say much more about it. Now that the next version of OS X (10.4 - Tiger) is slated to have a copy-cat (no pun intended) version of the desktop widget, Konfab is ready to compete on the other 99% of desktops world-wide. I'll keep you posted on any availability.
