If you've ever used the
Wayback Machine at
www.archive.org to search for old info, you know how powerful a database backup of the net can be. I've even used it to look for old software that I can't find anywhere else (even at
oldversion.com). Due to recent court decisions even old, abandoned software may be protected by copyright laws. I'm not sure who this is protecting, but something doesn't sound right here. Check out the Slashdot article by
